How Does MBR2GPT Work?

The mbr2gpt command is part of Microsoft’s built-in Windows software used to convert MBR system disks to GPT. The mbr2gpt command validates the layout of the disk and creates GPT partitions. Then it updates the boot configuration to enable the boot process from UEFI firmware. Validation is a critical part of this process since not all MBR disks will meet the conversion requirements. Important files should be backed up before use, and the conversion should not be interrupted in any way. The firmware will need to be set to boot in UEFI mode after the completion of this process.
