Need a spill pallet that can handle our chemical drums – any advice?
We run a small chemical blending facility in Sharjah and we've been using wooden pallets for our drums, but we recently had a small leak that soaked into the wood and caused contamination issues. The safety officer has now mandated that we get proper spill pallets for all our chemical drums, and I've been looking at different options to find something that suits our needs. We store a variety of chemicals including acids, solvents, and lubricants, so I need something with good chemical resistance and a decent sump capacity. I found a good selection on the Crateco website https://www.crateco.ae/productlist/spill-pallets-uae – the spill pallets section shows both covered and open versions with capacities ranging from 85 to 240 litres, and they mention compatibility with a wide range of chemicals. The polyethylene construction seems ideal for our needs since it's resistant to corrosion and won't absorb any spills. I'm also considering whether to go for the 4-drum or 2-drum size – we currently have four drums but we're planning to expand soon, so the 4-drum pallet seems like the smarter long-term investment. The forklift-accessible base is also a big plus because we move drums around frequently. Has anyone here used these spill pallets for chemical storage and found them durable in the long term? I'd appreciate any practical advice before I place an order.
